Implementation of "Cargoes Tracing Document" for all shipments to Senegal

30/10/2008

As per Senegalese Authorities there will be Bordereau de Suivi des Cargaisons implemented as from November 1st, 2008 for all shipments destined to Senegal.

The cost of this document is 50 Euros per TEU and this document has to be provided by the receiver to obtain the custom delivery order, what means that without same shipment cannot be delivered.

Therefore we are giving you a free translation of the circular letter issued by the Senegalese Shippers Council - CONSEIL SENEGALAIS DES CHARGEURS - in this respect:

CIRCULAR LETTER TO IMPORTERS, EXPORTERS, SHIPPERS, FORWARDERS AND SHIPPING AGENTS

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE "CARGOES TRACING DOCUMENT" AS FROM NOVEMBER 1st, 2008

The General Manager of Senegalese Shippers Council, COSEG, informed all the importers of goods destined to Senegal (break bulk, conventional cargoes, container shipments, new and second hand cars) that as per the provisions of the interministerial decree of the Ministry of Maritime Economy and the Treasury n°04350 dated May 26th, 2008, implementing the Cargoes Tracing Document in Senegal, any shipment destined to Senegal has to be covered by a Cargoes Tracing Document, as from November 1st, 2008.

Shippers, forwarders, shipping agents etc., have to closely follow the formalities for obtaining the Cargoes Tracing Documents with the agents of the Senegalese Shippers Council at loading ports.

The Cargoes Tracing Document quotes compulsory information (transportation costs, description of the goods etc.) which shipper or his mandatory has to supply to be able to obtain it. The reference number of the Cargo Tracing Document has to be necessarily shown on the manifest. To avoid any difficulties to the receiver when he effects clearing formalities, the General Manager of Senegalese Shippers Council, invites shippers, forwarders, shipping agents to comply as soon as possible with rules in Senegal.

An Inspection Department is set up to control if this measure is fully respected.

The Senegalese Shippers Council count on your perfect understanding.

Dakar, October 3rd 2008

The General Manager of Senegalese Shippers Council

Amadou Kane Diallo
